Evaluation Question 4: (Anna)

How did you use new media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

Evaluation Question 3: (Anna)

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Throughout the creation of our media products we have included audience feedback consistently in many aspects which shaped our final product. Audience feedback was key in our creation of magazine advert, digipak and music video and without these constructive criticisms we wouldn't have made our music video turn out the way it did.

Song choice and genre?
We had created a survey on a digital platform 'survey monkey' which allowed us to ask audiences which are varying in age group what genres audiences listen to, what style of music, their age and what is a convention of rap genre to them which shaped our decision making. the survey can be found on our blog.

Here we have one of our questions and the responses we had gotten from it, The responses were mostly hip-hop and rap which prompted us to focus on such genre due to this peer questionnaire. the genres showed the demand and what audiences listen to this created a guideline on what we should base our genre on.

This was another question we had asked and 32 people have responded to this questionnaire and 30 said they would listen to rap songs and with this knowledge we were able to narrow down our target audience as we knew there was a demand for rap music.
Another question we asked was what do they associate with the rap genre and their responses were here, most said money, cars and girls which is something we thought we would implement. without this question being asked we wouldn't be able to cater to our target audience as they are who we want to make this music video appealing to which means that without this research we might have ignored what the consumer demands which would have impacted their interest into the music video.
Lastly with the audience feedback we were able to narrow down who we would aim our music video to which from this information it is important as we were able to have and narrow down a age range which we will aim the music video at and interest them.

importance of audience feedback in early stages of creating a product?
  • without the questionnaire we wouldn't be able to pick a suitable target market for rap genre as this gave an insight on what demographics are interested in rap genre which made us go into a conclusion of 16-24yr olds.
  •  Additionally it allowed us to find out what conventions are associated with the rap genre which for the end product it allowed us to create a persuasive music video.
  • Audience is key as it guided us into a direction of rap genre and it gave us insight on what the connotations with rap are which meant that we were able to use this information to create a plan and storyboard for our music video.
  • we were able to have ideas on what kind of songs we could choose and it prompted us to start our research into location, clothing which would match the audience feedback.
Feedback on our song choice:
we had audience feedback on our choice of song, we selected people who do and don't listen to the genre to give us feedback on what the song makes them feel and visualise.
below is the audience feedback we got on the song choice.
  • This gave us an insight on how audiences respond to our song choice, one response was that the language is too vulgar which can upset some audiences and it will prevent our reach to other audiences outside of our target audience of 16-24yr olds.
  • based on such audience response we chose to edit the version that has the swear words and added bleeps into it which still gave the idea of the word however it did not mention it which means that it was more suitable to our target market. this audience feedback was essential as it allowed us to focus on what the audiences might not like which was the swear words.
  • tgif music vid testtgif music vid test
  • They visualised a bright coloured theme to base the song around which is why it lead us in later stages to choose a graffiti tunnel which included bright colours whilst still keeping in the genre of rap.
  • the song is catchy which meant that with this audience feedback they said to include dancing rather than a narrative as it can ruin the purpose and beat of the song which is what we took into consideration when creating our final product.

based on the audience feedback on song choice we tried to implement as much in our music video and these factors were key as it guided us into a direction of not having a narrative and telling a story like other rap videos do such as 'Chris brown' where they show how they have all the money go to rich places. without audience feedback on the song we might have chosen a less effective song which might not have matched the genre of rap as it could have mentioned lots about drugs and sex which is an aspect we tried to minimise in our music video. Audience feedback in this stage gave an insight on future planning of music video which is why we learnt that its essential in every stage which regards audience such as song choice as if audiences didn't like the song then we would have to choose a new one.

Audience feedback on our pitch:
This stage had given audience feedback a big role. Feedback was essential in this stage as we presented our ideas and we wanted to see if the audience would be interested in such music video which included locations, costumes, props which we mentioned in our pitch.

tgif music vid test1.we had feedback which mentioned to include signs, brands, logos and jewellery which would aid the realism of our music video which is why we included this shot of the barber shop showing their logo, his earring is also shown which looks like a diamond one to show wealth in the music video.

2.Another aspect we didn't consider which our audience feedback brought up was filming time. because we chose to film in the tunnel audience asked us when and where is the tunnel so that we had a short journey to it and so that we would film when there is little people around. This allowed us to create a timeline on when we are going to film and where. this was an aspect which without the audience feedback we would have overlooked.

3. our idea was to add colour to our music video, so we thought of adding a smoke bomb to create an effect of colour which would work well against the graffiti. However audience have responded that yes it will look good and bright however its unrealistic due to the fact that the smoke bomb cant be used in a public place as it might obstruct people so if we were to use it in the tunnel we wouldn't be able which is why we scrapped that idea.

tgif music vid test4. we were suggested to use more than one location as one location can make the music video boring which rap videos are not , conventions of rap are many locations showing off wealth which is why we used a car park to show how hes so high up and higher than other people as he has money, graffiti tunnel to portray the rap genre, party scene to show him and his lifestyle of living well and roads.

tgif music vid test5. we had a comment which was is the rapper going to be the only one featured, we initially had only him featured however to portray the conventions of Rap genre we needed to add more people into it which is why we had girls and guys featured.

importance of audience feedback on pitch:
it gave us bigger insight on audiences view on what aspects they like e.g. the clothes, locations, and props which we included. we had presented this to audiences varying from 17-40 year olds to see what views and ideas can they help us with to improve the music video. To conclude without audience feedback we wouldn't have experimented with the cameras before hand, we wouldn't have taken in consideration time and when to film in the Waterloo tunnel and we wouldn't have included more than one rapper and location if these were not brought up in audience feedback. so in my opinion they played a key role in the creation of our music video as they shaped and guided us to create a convention of rap genre video.

Location audience feedback:
location was an aspect we got audience feedback on as we wanted to see if the moodboard we created matches the genre of rap and it allowed us to have a deeper view on what audiences are thinking when they see these pictures.Based on this audience feedback we can see that these locations will portray our genre of rap/hip hop. Additionally the atmosphere we want to create is evident in the audience response as they see that its about having fun, chilling with friends and partying which the song is about. we asked these questions relating to the moodboard->

Costume and audience feedback:
to convey the conventions of rap genre we had questions made for our audience and their reposes were written down. we had asked them questions relation to the moodboard. The moodboard it important as it was aspects which we wanted to include in our video.
based on these results audiences say they would wear such clothes which means that we are targeting our market of 16-24 year olds additionally rap genre is portrayed through the clothes presented which means that if we include such concepts of clothing in our video we will match conventions of rap which is to have branded clothes. With the brands presented audiences will recognise them which means it increases convention of rap genre being about brand deals and showing off clothes. We also see that the audience do think rappers wear such clothes which means that our person lip syncing the rap scene will look realistic as the clothes and the character would suit the role of the rapper.

Audience feedback on rough cut:
we had presented our music video to our older range in our target market of 16-24yr olds and we had presented it to our peers who are same age as us so 17-18 year olds. We did this as we wanted to have two sets of feedback on our music video.

1.we had audience feedback on mise en scene on the hand gestures they found it effective in creating realism that our lip syncer is the rapper singing the verse. the editing was spot on as it matched with every beat it had transitions which made the scene changes effective such as the dance transition. location was important as it was vibrant and made it seem like it was a conventional rap music video.

2.lighting is a problem they pointed out how it was different from one location to another which did change the atmosphere of the music video we got suggested to maybe change it on the editing software to change the grey into white or a different colour.barber shop scene needs the lighting to be fixed with colour correction as in one shot it was brighter and in another it was darker.

3.2nd verse needs close ups on rapper to make it seem real theres too many long shots and mid shots and not enough close ups on his lips or his face which impacts realism.

4. the swearing issue is solved with the clean version as it doesn't include what the word is meant to be there so its clearly done to avoid the word which is effective as it can be now played as a radio edit.

why audience feedback was important in this stage?
From the audience feedback we got given on this we realised aspects which we have overlooked e.g. the lip sync at one stage of the music video which didn't work well, we were so focused on other aspects that we overlooked minor details. which is why audience feedback is important as it enabled us to learn form our mistakes as for our finished product we focused on these aspects throughout our video so we watched it once and looked at lighting problems, then watched it twice to look at lip sync problems.

Final cut audience feedback:
we had shown our final version of our music video to a group of peers and had gotten their response on if the music video portrayed the convention of rap genre.

1.Audience response we had gotten back was that they liked the transitions especially the dance move where it switches to different location that editing was effective in changing the scenes.

2.use of location made the setting seem real as it was all settings which rap music videos would use e.g. their house, graffiti and roads. they liked the way we edited the locations to swerve in a order of graffiti ,party , rooftop which made the scenes seem smooth.

3.hair dresser scene made the music video flow as it seemed like he went in and out like the transitions and shots of him getting a hair cut were well collected and implemented   e.g. when person walks past and then the hair cut is done.the dance transition was done professionally,  dance made video have real authenticity as the dancers were not self conscious they just danced and had fun which gave an effect of fun in the video.

4.the colours look good  as they seem enhanced which refers back to the conventions of the genre as it seemed like a rap video with bright colours shown. the use of the graffiti (woman) was important as it shows how it links with the song which tied the location, lip sync and lyrics well together as it made it seem as if he was singing about her there and then.

Overall what we learnt form audience feedback:
we learnt that audience feedback can shape and guide us to creating a professional music video, they have aided us in decision making on storyboard, location, clothing which made our music video turn out the way it did. I've learnt that audience feedback is key and should be done more often on decisions which can impact the end result of music video i've learnt that without the constant referral to the audience we might derail form the end effect which is to cater to our target market which is why their say in our construction is important as they are who we want to watch our music video.

Audience feedback on digipak:

Audience feedback on magazine advert:

  • we have showed our peers what we have created and they have showed various opinions on our magazine advert which is good because we are able to understand their point of view.
  • The main feedback we have received was that the picture does resemble the genre of rap based on the clothing of the character and the graffiti style image.
  • We have received comments that it includes what real magazine adverts they have seen of bands such as 'Chainsmokers' and 'Jay-z'. They said that it contains what is needed on a magazine advert e.g. the social media links like spotify and the website which will allow them to find out more about the music video.
  • its aesthetically pleasing to the eyes because of the colour scheme, the colour scheme is blue yellow and orange which is contrasted with the grey background. the image stands out to the audience which allows them to link the image of bart simpson to our rapper
  • our audiences believed that the font size of the title and name make it easier to distinguish what this magazine advert is about (which is a song) and his name is easily distinguishable as it the first thing you see when looking at the magazine advert.
Criticisms:
  • based on my audience i was able to find out that the colour of grey on black makes the writing not stand out as she was not able to see the song/ album name.
  • The rating shown suggests that its like a movie as movie trailers have ratings on them which is what made them a bit confused about the intention of the magazine advert. however they mentioned that because the rapper is crouching it makes it seem as if its a music video
  • the rapper was also an issue because he seems smaller than the image in the background of bart Simpson which means that the attention is on bart Simpson rather than on the rapper which is why he said to enlarge the image of the rapper to make it seem more about him.
overall they believed that the magazine advert is believable and it does convey and portray rap genre throughout it as the graffiti links to rap/hip hop, the outfit of the rapper and pose makes him seem more ghetto and more like the hip hop culture. the vibe and atmosphere of the magazine advert is a gangster vibe which is good because it suggests a strong link with rap genre.

Evaluation Question 2: (Anna)

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

()

my final products are here shown above:

Evaluation Question 1: (Anna)

In what ways does your media product, use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

conventions of real rap media products:
Our music video contains our title at the start of it, which is similar to this rap video of 'Chris brown' 'Faithful'. They had put their name of the song on the front with a font which matches the genre of the video e.g. Chris browns video on the right shows a more futuristic edge to the video due to the titles font being sharp and white which contrasts the background of black. in comparison to our titles where we have an effect of graffiti on it and its consisting the bright colours in the background and we convey an effect of being laid back and a skater atmosphere with the background.

we have challenged conventions of rap genre because I've researched many rap videos and none give more than one credit to the creators, they mention the rappers such as 'Nikki Minaj' and song titles however thats the most visuals rap videos include which is why we included more credits to make the establishing shots more interesting rather than audiences viewing plain screen of graffiti.

based on rap music videos i have noticed that we conform to the rap genre this is because we included production logos which will make us noticeable on who had created it, this image is a synergistic logo which would have been presented in our digipak, magazine advert and music video. This logo is similar to other rap logos such as 'Lil uzi vert' on the right which has his production logo of LiluziverT which is his production company.

Our production company is shown right after the logo is presented. This is to create a synergistic link between the visual image and the meaning to it. We used this to show our production company and who is made by. This is similarly presented in 'Migos' song where he has directed by shown which gives gratitude to the producer and editor crew.

we conformed to the conventions of rap videos using and including text which shows who its directed by however we challenge it by placing it in the end of our video this is because our songs build up is short and if audiences would read the text they wouldn't focus on the words which are rapped about.

music videos similar to ours based on style, narrative and genre:

comparing these clips from our video to the real rapper video, i think we included the same eye contact which our rappers are showing to the camera this engages the audience as it seems as if the rapper is talking to us. dance moves and dancing is present as well which creates a focus on the rapper.

Sage The Gemini - Red Nose
the transitions shows our inspiration of having bars on the screen which separates and leads to other scenes. the editing is more complex than for pop songs in our rap video there's more transitions present on screen which make the video more visual.
YGIF MUSIC VID (MEDIA PROJECT)

Sage The Gemini - Red Nose
YGIF MUSIC VID (MEDIA PROJECT)

we have included hand gestures and body language which emphasises what the rappers are rapping about. our rapper is pointing to a girl which is what hes rapping about, hes also putting his hand next to his eyes to show how hes looking for girls

This is similarly with the rap video here.hes rapping about money and how hes rich which is why hes shaking his hands to show a gesture of him being rich and throwing the money.

YGIF MUSIC VID (MEDIA PROJECT)
Sage The Gemini - Red Nose we challenge rap videos with our usage of female characters, we included female characters however we did not sexualise them. we wanted to portray women with dignity rather than show off their body this is because teens would watch this and by including shaking bums and breasts into the camera will limit our audience range.

Sage The Gemini - Red Nose
here we have images of the rapper dancing and breaking the 4th wall by looking at the camera and making contact with us as an audience. he looking at the camera in the real rap video to our left and compared to ours we show how the rapper is spinning the camera around to focus the audience on something else.

Magazine Advert conventions:
real magazine advert conventions are seen similar to each other, the conventions are that the rapper is the largest and normally placed  in the 2/3 of the rule of third. The background is always seen darker and the rapper is emerging form the dark background. This idea is portrayed in the magazine adverts below made by 2pac, Jay-z and Drake. these magazine adverts have a dark background with white writing and another dominant colour emerging from the adverts e.g. 2pac has orange which contrasts the dark colours of black and white.

based on these magazine adverts and ours we can see that we have included some conventions of rap genre magazine adverts such as including dark colours for the primary background we used grey and the adverts above show darker colours like black.

  • main convention we portrayed in our magazine advert is that the main character(rapper) is present in the shot, he's visible and his face is easily recognisable with his name e.g. Chis yonge is written on top and audiences can infer that its him based on him being in the image. This is similar to real magazine adverts such as Jay-Z which shows a close up on his face  which shows his identity as a rapper
  • we included conventions of having the rappers name the biggest and boldest, in all these magazine adverts shown they show the main rappers name in bold as well as the tile name as well which is what we did, are added and made the rappers name and title 'TGIF' as bold. we did this because it will catch the audiences eyes if the writing is in bold
  • We developed and challenged conventions of rap magazine adverts because the release date is normally on the bottom as shown on Jay-Z  magazine advert however we though that the bottom of the advert is mostly overlooked which is why we added it in the middle of the screen because the main focus is the Bart Simpson which means that audiences will read around it
  • we challenged conventions of rap magazine adverts because we included Bart Simpson a fictional character on our advert, this fictional character makes our audiences of 12-24yr olds to focus on this as this cartoon is known for its dark humour which is why audiences will  be appealed to this advert due to the main character being brighter than the background
  • we conformed to conventions as drakes magazine adverts shows production companies and institutional links which we have included as well with our spartan logo on bottom left
  • drakes magazine advert shows his website where you can find information about him, we similarity added that aspect where it would take you to our artist 'Chris yonge' page.
  • we included the convention of having social media links, we included spotify and itunes to show the availability of our song for audiences to watch and listen.
  • we used synergy in our magazine advert as in our graffiti location we took stills of our rapper in front of the graffiti. the picture is of Bart Simpson which audiences can interpret as they can associate our rapper with that image.
  • we challenged conventions as we included 5 star ratings which occurs in movies however we decided to add this into our magazine advert as it will make the audiences aware that he's an upcoming rapper that everyone will talk about which is why we included such words and ratings to show the audiences that 'they will be talking about this song soon'
  • overall we have included all the conventions that rap magazine adverts include. We had our rapper present, the title being bold and a production logo being made.

Digipak conventions:
Image result for real digipakson my blog you can see the digipak conventions which i have previously researched, the conventions consisted of a spine, front back and inner panels which link to each other, in our digipak that is what we aimed to do.

In our digipak we included all the aspects which we needed to make it as realistic and as similar to real music digipaks. With the previous research on digipak i was able to add aspects which amen a digipak appealing and linking go the rap genre which is why we had a similar image of graffiti being shown throughout the back and front of digipak.

Here are examples of real rap digipaks which show the main rapper in the front cover and back and in the booklet which is attached. The inside booklet included the songs and a description of the song  which will give a bigger insight on what the songs would be about, the booklet is more for giving insight on what is inside and what songs would come up.  The 50 cent digipak shows a synergistic link as both images are showing red and him wearing the same clothes

how our digipak conforms to conventions of digipaks:
  • Net type:we included a conventional digipak net we chose to have a 6 net digipak. this is because we are able to have more panels inside to include our booklet with song lyrics and we are able to add images which link to the artist such as graffiti.
  • Eye catching image: our main image and synergistic link is the idea of graffiti and the image of bart simpson. this image is what most digipaks inlcude either by having the main rapper as teh central image or a cartoon or design which will catch the audiences eye
  • Titles: we have included titles such as the album name 'sauce' this name would be something which audiences would pay attention to as our front panel has the album name and the song tile 'TGIF' written down as well as the rappers name 'Chris yonge'
  • Back pannel: this included barcodes, record labels 'Spartan logo' which is presented with a spartan head. These are aspects which audiences will recognise as real record labels are shown in back pannels of song albums
  • inside right pannel: we added an image of a girl (on the graffiti wall) we added this as we noticed that in the digipak example above of 'Drakes album' we can see an image of him smoking which has no text around it which is why we added an image without text so tha audiences will get an idea on what the rapper raps about which is love and girls.
  • Font tile: we have included a continuous font which is used for song title, artists name this font matches the background of the digipak which is a graffiti style background. the design shows the font being worn out which matches the background.
how our digipak challenges conventions of real digipaks:
  • booklet: our booklet area is a slit which has the same logo of the spartain (our production logo) on it this keeps the images being the same and if you take out the booklet the image is still complete. this is something which we found to be different in real digipaks as they normally just have the booklet attached whilst ours has a specific place for it to enter.
  • Social media links: most digipaks include name of rapper however we rarely see rappers showing social media links which is why we added some for instagram and snapchat because the audience would be teens aged 16-24. by adding these links audiences can find the real facebook or instagram pages for our artist which will result in bigger popularity for our unknown rapper.
  • Production logo:   our production logo is enlarged which would catch audiences eye, we enlarged this because our rapper is unknown and with an established production logo we created it will increase awareness and audeinces will interpret the image.
overall we conformed to conventions of rap genre because we have added images of our rapper thoughout the digipak to show audiences that hes the rapper which will allow them to link the name of the rapper shown on front of cover to the image of him. We added all the songs that the rapper has made (chris yonge), his social media links are avialable.

Evaluation Question 4 (Anderson)

List of digital technologies:
  •          Blogger
  •          YouTube
  •          Prezi
  •          PowerPoint
  •          Survey monkey
  •          IMacs camera
  •          Storyboardmaker.com
  •          Sound cloud
  •          Photoshop
  •          Final cut pro
  •          Premier Pro CS

All of these were used in constructing my media products. As this is my second year of studying media I have gained more skill on how to use these digital technologies which overall helped me more throughout in the creation of my music video digipak and magazine advert. Digital technology was very useful throughout my journey to be able to present my work. The main digital technologies what I used included Prezi, PowerPoint, YouTube, Photoshop and Premier Pro CS6 and these were used in the construction of my pre-production and post production of my media products. Having the access to these digital technologies during my  pre-production and post production stages of my products helped in presenting my planning ,research and end products in a much more visual way . My work would not have been as visually presented if I was to use blogger alone.

Blogger:

This was the main digital platform that allows us to present our planning and research for our media products. The research and planning mainly focused on all of the technical codes which are mise end scene, camera shot, angles and movement, sound and editing. This consisted of costume, lighting, narrative, location, song choice, possible camera shot and artists. Being able to show all of the research and planning made it helpful to show how I used these technical codes and how we implemented them into our production Just like every digital technology there are both positives and negative. For positives I did find it useful to embed other digital technologies such as Prezi and YouTube for others to see directly from blogger instead of being redirected to another page. The layout of blogger is also very easy to use adjust. Disadvantages however was that it did lack certain tools such as being able to draw shapes and place arrows and because of this, it made me create my research of  audience profile for example  on word to which I then screen shot to be then shown on blogger. Finally one down side is that there is a certain alignment for pictures and videos which makes it harder to write text just beside it.

Research stages:

We used media technologies such as YouTube and sound cloud to help research songs that are both non-copyrighted and created by an unsigned artist. We tried not to use any songs that already had a music video as it might have made us create somethings that looks the same. Having access to both of these platforms allowed us to find a range of songs and also have access to the artist itself through social media. YouTube was used for us to post our research and planning, use of technical skills and also our audience feedback. Both YouTube and sound cloud gave the options to search specific genres which for us were hip hop.

YouTube and Sound Cloud:

The advantages YouTube is that unlike sound cloud, it plays the song along a video. From this we were able to distinguish if it was just a background image, lyric video or music video. Another andante was that it was easier to find non copyrighted music and there are channels such a non-copyrighted rap which is the channel we used to find our song ’TGIF’ by Chris Yonge. This video did not include a music video just a background so this made it clear that we could use this song. Sound cloud however also had the option to find specific genres of music like rap, grime, blues, etc. which made it easy to just find the hip genre that we were going for. One downside however is that from sound cloud alone we are not able to know if there is a music video on other platforms which is why YouTube was the most useful by itself. Sound cloud was helpful for pitching our ideas but not as much for researching our choice of song.

Internet:

The use of internet was helpful in the planning of our locations which could be used for our music video. Google maps helped to find out how to get to these locations and google images showed us what the locations look like. Once example of the location we research was the graffiti tunnel in waterloo and knowing what the location looks like helped plan ahead what types of camera shots and angles would suit best for this location. Only issue is that you are unable to plan and research if your internet if offline and sometimes when your internet speed is slow which was sometime the case on the macs, it makes your searches more time consuming. We had used the internet to also plan our digipak as we were not as familiar to what a digipak was or its structure and layout. Having access to the internet gave us the ability to view real digipaks from artists such as ‘Drake’ to help us create our own. We found out that not all digipaks have to same layout in structure and how many consist how having 4 nets up to 6 nets. Being able to look at other digipaks helped us to understand the focus how we can implement the conventions into our product. Using google images again helps us find a 6 net template so without this we would have had to create the template our self.

Social Media:

Social media was useful in terms of contacting the artist for permission to use there song and finding our more about the artists personality. Knowing more about the artist’s lifestyle helped in trying to portray his actions when filming our music video. The messages he replied with shown in the image below told us how he is quite a relaxed and laid back artist so we tried implementing this in our music video through the use of hand gestures and facial expressions. The downsides of using just social media is that is doesn’t show all of the artists full song and this is more likely to be pasted on other platforms such as YouTube. Social media is more used for fans to keep updated with the artist’s work and his everyday lifestyle

IMacs and Photobooth:

When creating our research we used the program photo booth. This is a built in software on the iMac which uses the camera on the iMac to record videos and take pictures.  To continue our research into genre and progress with our media products, this was good to record our initial ideas and group pitches. Another key thing we used this for was to record our audience feedback. From this we were able to re watch our audience’s opinion to see what improvements we could make on our products. The built is camera also had quite a wide lens which was useful in recoding many people at once instead. Some disadvantages however was that it only records video and not audio. Some audience member was quite shy on camera and therefore did not want to be recorded.

Storyboardmaker.com:

When creating our storyboard we used the website storyboardmaker.com to create a cartoon visual presentation of what our music video should look.  It allows you insert images as well as cartoon visuals that are given on the website. This helped us to create our animatic use the pictures from and pre-sets from the storyboard were saved to be edited using final cut pro.

Digital Camera:

We used a canon dlsr camera for the creation of our music video. As we used this camera for our AS course to film out thriller opening, this made using the camera much more professionally as now we are more familiar on how to adjust the ISO, Shutter speed and aperture to be able to film video in iw light settings and also to achieve a shallow depth of field. The camera also had the option to place a grid on the display which helps implement rule of thirds when recording shots. The main point of the camera was to record what is in front of the camera which is our artist but with various angles. The ability to zoom in and out helped in readjusting the video to focus on what you want to film. This zooming in on the artist will help to achieve mid shots of close ups. The camera was also used to take pictures which were later used for our magazine advert and digipak shot pictures. Auto focus made it easier to film while walking however I preferred to use manual on shot when standing as sometimes the camera would focus on what even is the closest which may not be what I wanted.  Advantages of the DSLR Camera was that it is able to film in high quality (1080p) which made is easier in post-production to change the scale of the video without it losing any of its resolution. This camera had settings that can go up to very high ISO which helped film in the tunnel scene where lighting was low. Some downsides was that I wanted to film create slow motion in post-production however the camera did not have the option to film 60 fps but only 30fps. Because I this I used my own camera. The NIKON D300 to achieve this as the option of filming 60fps was available. As we filming in high quality, this took up a lot of space on our SD card which lead to bring many SD cards and constantly having to change them when we had no more memory. Not only this sometimes our footage will corrupt which lead to filming again. Finally as some shots were filmed at night like our the party scene, our footage did contain noise which decreased the quality of our video and  made it look less professional.

PowerPoint:

PowerPoint was key in my research and planning. Not only was it easy to use with its various amounts of tools but also includes many background presents to make presenting your work more visual. You can place wide variety of images, shapes and text boxes which can all be customized with colour. One problem is that videos cannot be played. These meant we could not add our audience feedback or podcasts so if we wanted too, we would have had to redirect the person viewing this with a link

Prezi:

Prezi was good in visually presenting our work and also had the ability to be embedded into our blog. Unlike PowerPoint the animations look much more interesting. It also comes with many free pre-set designs for you to present your work. Some down sides to Prezi is that it is quite a time consuming process. Sometimes your work may be lost and also the each slide is quite small in size to large amounts of text cannot be fitted into it.

Premier Pro CS6:

Premier Pro is an editing software just like final cut pro and this was used to make my music video 'TGIF' . I preferred to use this program as there are more inbuilt presets that helped to make my music video look much better. An example of this would be the ability to colour grade manually. This was done with a three way colour corrector and the benefit of this is that your footage looks less dull and more professional. Besides the video this program also let me create the clean version of the song. There are also more built in transitions in premier pro and unlike final cut pro it has more tools to be able to create your own transitions as you can transfer your clips to after effects to be edited more further. One main advantage was that is was easier to stack clips on top of each other which is something that final cut pro cannot do. It also auto saves every 5 mins so there are less chances of you losing your work. One disadvantage is that when using many effects at once on one clip. the preview does not render as quickly.
